We are very pleased with the heating and cooling efficiency of our new home with the extra insulation package your firm provided around our ductwork. Between your product and our other insulation package we had installed by Comfort Solutions of Mayview, MO, our home is very energy efficient. We would highly recommend your product along with a good insulation package to anyone. Our home is totally electric with a high efficiency 16 seer heat pump. With days last December of temperatures with wind chills below zero, our highest electric bill was $206. Normally our bills run average around $125 year round. Our home is 2850 SF living area on slab with two car garage maintained above freezing. Again we are very pleased with your product.

The two upstairs bedrooms in my home were very uncomfortable in the summertime. After we had the ductwork sealed and insulated using the Ultimate-R, it made a huge difference (night and day). We enjoy the lower monthly bills. I would recommend it for everyone with attic ductwork.

ADVANTAGES
The most common methods of adding insulation to HVAC ducts are to wrap them with a blanket of batt insulation, or to stick insulation boards to the ducts and tape the joints. However there are limitations.
Ultimate-R addresses both duct leakage and conductive loss by requiring that leaks be sealed before installation and providing uniform insulation around the ducts, without disturbing them.

RESOURCES
Ultimate-R was developed in conjunction with the U.S. Dept. of Energy’s (DOE) Inventions and Innovation Program. In 1998 the DOE commissioned a technical report to evaluate the performance and cost effectiveness of Ultimate-R. Studies were conducted on homes in California, New York, and Oregon.
Results found that annual heating and cooling savings equaled 13-36% of the cost of installation for smaller duct systems, and 63-125% of the cost of installation for larger duct system. The study also reported that the financial return would have been quicker had Ultimate-R been installed during construction, rather than retrofitted.
